Frederick, the son of William Henry Smith (WH Smith), who was later to become Viscount Hambleden, built North Bovey Manor House in the early 20th century. This extravagant neo-Elizabethan masterpiece has a contrasting staircase of a Jacobean style, ornate plaster ceilings, oak paneled dining room, banqueting hall with minstrels gallery, open fireplace with a carved stone chimney and an Adam drawing room.
Bovey Castle Hotel is part of the Eden Hotel Collection and is a beautiful resort hotel set in delightful countryside.
